The conference will take place in the Academiegebouw, Utrecht. Located on the Dom Square in the centre of Utrecht, the Academiegebouw is a monumental building, serving as ceremonial heart and public face of Utrecht University. The oldest part, called the Treaty of Utrecht Hall or Auditorium, was completed in 1462. There the Treaty of Utrecht was signed in 1579, an event that is generally viewed as marking the origin of the Dutch nation. Nowadays the building is used for academic ceremonies such as graduations and PhD defences, as well as conferences.
