Maureen Cooper is the founding director of Awareness in Action, a consultancy dedicated to the secular application of mindfulness, meditation and compassion in the workplace. Her book, The Compassionate Mind Approach to Reducing Stress, applies training in compassion to the increasingly common problem of stress, and shows how it can actually be used to help increase our wellbeing.
Maureen has designed and conducted workshops and training programmes for people in a variety of work situations in different European countries. In 2010 Awareness in Action was chosen to take part in the creation and delivery of an innovative leadership programme across a spectrum of Third Sector infrastructure organizations in Nottinghamshire, UK. In 2011 Awareness in Action secured funding from the National Lottery in the UK to deliver training to a range of front line organizations in the social services.
She uses humour, stories and findings from current scientific research into meditation and compassion training to ensure that the workshops are practical, accessible and relevant to people’s lives.
Born in London, Maureen now lives in Amsterdam.
